Which is the proper side for a female to be on when walking with a male?

The proper side depends on the situation, but generally indoors, the female takes the male’s right arm. When on the sidewalk, the male walks nearest the traffic.


What is the rule about pointing at people/objects?

Generally, pointing a finger at objects is okay, but not at people. However, it's best to gesture with an open hand when directing attention to a person or an object.


Who initiates the handshake?

Business: It doesn't matter.
Socially: The woman.


Who should stand when someone of greater importance enters a room?

Business: Everyone, to show respect.
Socially: Only men, women remain seated

9. Exiting/Entering etiquette. Elevators: allow those in the elevator to exit first before entering the elevator.
